However!
I recently saw a productivity talk that advised doing the single most BASIC task every day, be it drawing a single line, writing a single word, or even just opening up your program.
The reasoning is that the hardest thing to do is to start something, especially when there's pressure to finish. This challenge doesn't pressure you to "finish" what you start, so once you've laid down that single initial stroke or word, you usually just keep going a bit more even though you don't have to... and I've been going strong over
My main inspirations to start this challenge:
- ★★★★★ The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Artists (29min)
- ★★★★★ You Need to do a 30 Day Challenge (36min)
- ★★★★☆ Finished, Not Perfect (2min)
SOME YEAR 1 RESULTS + REFLECTIONS:
A selection of some of my favorite pieces throughout the months.(Some of these are only submitted to sta.sh, not my gallery.)
So. Me being a wannabe jack-of-many-trades, during this month (March 2017) alone I've:
Other than showing my best friends, I haven't really uploaded some of these anywhere yet. This is cuz I legit have crippling depression, and my abysmal self-worth issues make me think I'm annoying you guys with anything I upload, ever. So... I just don't post anything for months. :^)
- drawn on paper, tablet, and 3DS
- pixelled icons
- picked up digital painting and 3D modeling
- seriously considered starting animating, writing, watercolor, and non-visual art
That said, I do want to start uploading these, but will likely make a separate tumblr, facebook, twitter, or instagram for all the daily creations, and limit my dA uploads to just the more finished ones. If you have a site preference, lemme know! (I'm leaning towards tumblr or facebook since I use those already.)
MONTHS 1 - 2 (FEB - MAR):
Buncha experiments involving color and things I hadn't tried much before!Digital painting, editing traditional sketches, and 3D modelling.
Getting better at BS'ing my way through pixel art, hah.
More unsubmitted stuff here.
MONTHS 3 - 4 (APR - MAY)
Even more experiments and things I haven't done much before!Animated, wrote, painted, and finally made my own chibi pixel style!
Also started trying to expand/practice my Vivid palette more, too.

MONTHS 5 - 6 (JUN - JUL)
July is Anime Expo, so I picked sewing back up.Levelled up my cosplay skills.
Made a stamp from one of my photos.
Pixelled even more.
I'm still not good at ANY of these skills yet, but since I'm actually putting daily effort into my art now and am pretty determined to not break my streak, let's see how much I improve in another month or six! Gonna try to upload more consistently, too.
I'm also working on some stickers/etc. for my 1st Redbubble store, so keep an eye out!!
